AGRICULTURE:  These projects involve you in many areas of agricultural development.  Included are school programs, private family gardens, helping local farmers develop more efficient practices, organic farming, etc. If you are skilled in this area we have the place for you.

AQUAPONICS:  This project is underway in numerous communities.  It is a mix of aquaculture and hydroponics, and is targeted at the indigenous areas of Panama.

AIDS/ HIV EDUCATION:  HIV/AIDS is an ongoing problem in the impoverished areas of Panama. This program educates the younger population with programs that teach them the facts and dangers of HIV, with a focus on prevention and safe practices.

CHILD CARE:  The Panama Red Cross has six child daycare centers and one abandoned children’s home.  They are always in need of loving and caring volunteers to help care for the children.  They are located throughout the country.   We also support multiple programs at Casa Hogar Trisker in Boquete.  These programs include but are not limited to; arts & crafts, sports, nutrition, music, etc.

CLIMATE CHANGE:  One of the biggest challenges we face today is teaching local farmers how to change and adapt their ways & traditions to the reality of changing climate and conditions.  Panama Red Cross has 16 community projects in this line and plans to expand, volunteers needed NOW!

COMMUNICATIONS/IT:  We need volunteers to implement and design web based systems to support our operations and to assist our partner organizations in their operations- from radio communications to computer databases, or just helping us keep our websites up to date.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:  These projects teach communities how to be self sufficient and better organized in their administration of public programs.

CONSERVATION: Be a part of the green revolution and teach young and old alike in natural resource & nature conservation.  Make a difference and teach recycling to schoolchildren through our conservation projects

CONSTRUCTION:  Through these projects we utilize volunteers to help build/repair housing, schools, playgrounds, medical centers & other structures in various areas of need throughout Panama.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE: A specialized area where we develop disaster contingency plans for high risk communities, learn with the specialists of PRC, the ups and downs of disaster response.  Preparedness is the BEST response.

FUNDRAISING:  None of what we do would be possible if it weren’t for the volunteer Angels who make it happen by raising funds to support our operations.  If you have good communication skills & have a creative marketing side… this is the place for you!

LOGISTICAL SUPPORT: Come help us help others, there’s always something to move or a new problem to solve.  Make sure to bring your Patience & Flexibility!

LITERACY PROGRAMS:  GHA supports the establishment of local libraries & reading programs, from adult classes to our local “Loco por Leer “ children’s classes.  Come and help the ones who need it most.

MARKETING:  It is our goal to share these life changing moments with the world.  We are focussed to bring the projects to the volunteers, then the volunteers will come.  Our research reinforces that human nature wants to help & will help when it knows how.  Marketing shares the need, GHA works out logistics & volunteers respond.

MEDICAL:  If you are a health professional, come down and work at local health clinics, orphanages, or in the field.  GHA is focussed on medical assistance in remote areas & nutrition programs.  There are a great number of programs to utilize a wide range of medical specialties.  Put your skills to work in some very primitive locales.  (Certain conditions apply.)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:  GHA is involved with a number of programs from our partner organizations, so there is a constant need for qualified people to help manage these programs. Mix some adventure with your expertise, and come to Panama and make a difference.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:  At GHA, we focus on solutions & efficiency.  We are continuously developing/structuring programs to run more effectively.  Come to Panama & share your skills to strengthen program impact.

PLAYGROUND/ RECREATION PROJECTS:  Everywhere we go, GHA sees the need to provide children with a safe place to play and have fun. So, we strive to provide these areas thru fundraisers and sports programs.  Be a part of a happy childhood, come help build a playground or teach kids the fundamentals of team sports.

RESOURCE ACQUISITION:  Do you have access to resources?  GHA requires a wide range of resources for operations & support services.  If you have access to goods, services and/or products that could be used to help others - come on down and see what a difference it will make.

SKILLS TRAINING: Knowledge is the base of all success, at GHA we strive to make a difference by educating.  Technical skills, vocational skills, educational skills… all fit into our projects that designed to prepare children and adults alike for a better life.

WATER & SANITATION:  Many of the areas that we work in do not have running water, sometimes no water at all.  So along with our partner organizations, we try to make a difference through projects designed to supply water, either by rural aqueducts or well drilling. We also include sanitation projects, vector control and hygiene promotion.  We use programs designed for international standards that also include recycling programs and waste disposal/treatment.
